Smoke Alarm Compliancy In Rental Properties change 1 January 2022, are you ready?
Smoke Alarms may not be the most exciting topic when your talking about rental properties, but it’s definitely one of the most important.
From 1 January 2022 all domestic properties that are rented must comply with the new standards.
To comply with legislation, interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms are required to be installed.
- Smoke alarms must be installed in every - bedroom and in every hallway outside - all bedrooms. 
- All smoke alarms must be interconnected – - either by being wired together, connected - using wireless technology, or a mixture of - these two methods. 
- All levels of all homes must have a smoke - alarm. If no bedrooms are on a level - the alarm should be installed on the most - likely exit path from that level. 
- All alarms must be either hard wired to the - electricity supply or have a non-replacable - 10-year lifespan battery.
